wiring ebpv to a switch

I saw in a previous thread someone suggested wiring the ebpv to a switch.. I am wondering if anyone has accually done this. I know it's meant to shut itself off when it reaches a certain temp. But is there a way to have constant power to it well it's on a switch.. what I'm getting at is if I can wire it to a swtich i'd like to have the ability to turn it on even if running full operating temperature.. to use as exhaust break... mainly I would just like to be able to turn it off when I start driving... thanks

Sure, there are several write ups floating around that will walk you through how to wire it up as an exhaust brake, including how to wire up a torque converter lock up switch since your exhaust brake won't do much good if the torque converter isn't locked. (my internet connection is too slow tonight to do any searches for you, sorry)

Thanks for that link. I looked around the forums abit on here and was able to find all the good info.. even which wire was hot and which was ground.. but just for fun I went to check myself and I couldn't get a test light to show me anything.. according to it I had no power.. so I have a couple q's.. is it a constant power or only for a certain amount of time? I checked not running and right after start up.. no light.. I know the ebpv works cause I can hear the darn thing driving around.. should I just go ahead and move on with the plan of wiring it to a switch or is this something I should be concerned with? Thanks

I am not sure but I thought the original purpose of that valve was to help during warm up. If that's true and your engine was warm that is likely why you didint see voltage with the test light. Maybe try it again when it is cold. I saw that same thread and I am going to try it too. Mine is a standard transmission so it will be a bit easier, and the previousy guy the the valve unhooked because of hearing it going down the road like you described.

It was definetly cold.. and after appearing to have no power to it.. was definetly activating driving down the road... I guess I'm just gonna have to see what happens..? And move on with my switch wiring
