Some of my favorite "What the Hell?" posts have been the ones where someone talks about this "Special" one of a kind truck that typically a grandfather, uncle, or a fast talking previous owner "Special Ordered" from the factory. The ones where a guy at a dealership was able to get Ford to build something really different!
You see a thread about all this amazing stuff that was special ordered, and then a guy like NumberDummy comes along and deflates the bubble, usually with some rather pointed wit........I love to see when Urban Legend meets cold hard statistics

I remember as a kid, my parents test driving a car that had a little plaque on the dash "Custom built for" so-and-so. My mother was impressed by this, and wanted to know how to get one. My father saw it as sales BS and said so, to Mom, the salesman, and us kids. It was a lesson that stuck.

Not so much as "What the Hell", but a bad day never the less.

at 6:30a i went to lowes am bought 6x 3" clamps and 2x 1x2x8 so i can clamp on my cap to 71 f250 gauge showed had 1/4 tank so went to car wash. car wash crushed some of the cap and then on way home truck died. i was out gas, apparently the gauge broke. so was stranded in turn lane. hobbled across the road n fell in a field. called aaa from a whataburger then got back to truck to find cop. cop nicely pushed car off the street to parking lot. then sat there for 3 hours waiting sitting on my tailgate. heat got to me and i passed out and fell off and face planted the payment. then i hobbled across the road again with my bad back and feel down in center lane. got up got back to whataburger n called aaa again. they got aaa driver to pick me up n take me back to truck. turns out delay wasn't drivers fault. was told i was 3 miles away where i was. he put gas in tank and pored some in carb then fired right up. i went home and took a nap after thanking aaa driver.

After all of that, I believe I'd have myself a nap too. Especially after face planting the payment.

I take it that one of each of the two pieces of wood would be laid on top of the cap rail on each side of the bed rails, or maybe used as a spacer to get the roof lines to match.

The six clamps would be used three on each side, I'm guessing.

Maybe the extent of his injuries from the bad day account for his mangling of the post?
