Is anybody out there still looking for super camper special beds?

My local tow yard supposedly is getting 4 of these in today. Monday they are leaving to be crushed. I am going to try to work a deal where I can get the bed off of it, along with a few other rare trinkets the truck has. I hate to see the bed get crushed. It also still has the rear poly fuel tank! He is getting $600 across the scales for these trucks right now.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO What a waste! It's one of those items that at a certain moment there is probably not much demand but to the right person it could be priceless at some point. I will hold a moment of silence for these trucks.

Geez, what a shame a truck like that will get crushed. But, the shame really lies in the location of trucks like that. If I had the resources, time and a little extra cash, I'd bring a long trailer and haul at least 3 of those babies back and then head out for more. But, now with fuel prices the way they are and time, it just isn't feasible.

A couple places that I know of used to travel and get trucks/part like that and sell them in the rust belt for good money. But, the cost of fuel and the slow down of the market has really taken a toll and those places don't do much of it anymore. By the time the fuel is paid for and mark up to make some money, the parts get very expensive and most people won't cough up the cash. For instance, not many people will be willing to pay over $2K for just a bed. The trucks aren't worth much on the market.

It just sucks that these trucks are just being sold for pennies in certain places and crushed. I hope those beds don't get crushed.

Thats a rather cynical view to have Ranger, lol, I understand it but I would rather have the parts that are never going to be made again saved but I'm a romantic at heart....

Definetly a selfish view point.............but like they say; Opinions are like a**h*les, everyones got one! It is a shame, mostly because finding good quality parts is extremely hard, and rusty used parts is still way better than cheap chinese crap!

Not selfish at all. Had I said the value of MINE keeps going up then you could of said it was a selfish viewpoint.

The OP lives in Ca, the commie stat that wants all these old cars/trucks off the road. It's no wonder the scrap prices are high there.
