New Front leaf spring questions

My front leaf springs are in need of replacement. I was looking at ordering a set from SDTruckSprings.com. Appears to be a really good price. Has any one used this company before? What kind of quality is Dayton Springs?

Self serving bump. Also another question. Anyone know the shape and size U-bolts I need for the front springs?

I have looked at that site also. What I have been able to determine (not sure about the accuracy of this information) is that spring 43-818 is the equivalent to a factory X-code spring and the 43-818HD is the same spring with an additional leaf added underneath. I talked with one guy who said he installed the 43-818HD springs and got 6 +/- inches of lift, and that was with the 7.3 engine. I'm skeptical of that statement, but I'll be getting the 43-818 springs when I have the funds. Also check General Spring offers leaf springs, coil springs, lift kits, leveling kits. They will work with you on price since you're a member of FTE.

Yep as far as I can tell SIR 43-818 is the same as Ford's X-code spring. I'll check out General Spring as well. Thanks for the tip.

Anyone know what the size and shape of U-bolts I need?

I wanna help, but I can't recall when the switch from square to round topped u-botls happened... I know my early '99 had the odd ball square, but then they changed. Sometime.

Mine is an 02 and has the semi-round U-bolts. Looking at the spring part numbers, it looks like the early 99's use a different spring. Maybe that's when the U-bolts changed. If you buy the U-bolts from the same company you get the springs from, they should be able to answer your questions.

You are correct, that is the aftermarket equivalent for the Ford x-code spring. If you note, they are made by Triangle Spring. Triangle is the main supplier to Deaver, National etc. They are a vary high quality spring. One of my good friends runs a over the road tractor shop, and will only put Triangle products on the trucks that come through his doors, has never had a failure, and they don't seem to sag either.

As an aside, I have a set that Deaver did for me, where they added 2 very short leaves to add some extra lift (they are so short that they will not add any rate unless you inverted the spring in a jump). They have maybe 10k miles on them, and they raised the front of my f250 v10 ccsb slightly higher than the stock rear. I pulled them for a set of Deaver 4.5" lift leaves that I got a smoking deal on. PM me off list if you are interested, and I will make you a smoking deal too, I just want them out of my garage. Depending on where you are, shipping may be tough though. I am in SoCal.

OK, dumb question here, but how does one identify what leaf springs he has? I have an 2004 that only "sags" 1.5 in in the front end and i am not sure if i have a snow plow prep or other service package on my truck. How do you find out????
