You're not really comparing apples to apples here. The cure is an electrical product that is used to increase the speed of t/c lookup during 3rd to OD upshift and downshift. This problem is known as shift flare. What problems are you experiencing and why do you feel you need a new tc?

How many Miles are on the truck you are considering? How much weight are you going to be hauling/towing? The E40D trans is unfortunately the major 'weak link' per say in the PSD drive train. If it was well taken care of, then you shouldn't have many issues. Typical upgrades to help longevity are a good trans cooler and a shift kit or valve body swap. The trans cooler keeps your temps down and the shift kit will help the shifts happen faster with less slipping between gears.

Those will only help if the trans has been maintained properly, if not you may be looking at a rebuild.

The cure product will help with your 3rd-->OD up and down shift as I mentioned above, making the T/C lock and unlock faster. If you find your RPM's flaring between that gear shift, you may want to consider the product. User MADVAN (Bill) on this form sells them and can be reached at shiftsolutions at yahoo dot com

two different products for two different problems. The Cure is the ONLY product of its kind to fix the OD shift flair that results from the TC unlocking during the shift.

there is supposed to be 40k on the trans 175k on truck. I pull 10k trailer occasionally but coyote hunt a lot where I am driving through deep snow and beat on the truck some. I have had a e4od in a 91 with 5.8 that held up ok but obviously didnt have near the torque. I am just looking to possibly prevent a few problems before they arise. is there any advantage to putting a different tc in it or should i just add a shift kit, cooler, and the cure? Also if I do a shift kit will it be effected if I chip the truck (nothing wild) as some chips/programmers change shift frimness. Should the programmer then be done first to see how it shifts before modding the valve body. Thanks a bunch guys- dont know much about transmissions

Coyote hunt with a powerstroke?? Come on man, that's what the old beaters are for. That's what I use my 76 for, it is fun, but you're gonna trash that truck if you are like me in the fields..

That's true... It's much harder with a 7.3 to sheak up on them

I'd spend that money on upgrading the Valve Body with a shift kit or just a new valve body all together (Racer X makes one), then get your self a decent trans cooler and see how she does
