PCM inspection

Sure was a lot posted since yesterday morning. What everyone said, is correct. The caps have a lifespan similar to vaccum tubes. If it's been this long, then chances are they have fulfilled they intent. They are under harsh conditions and I trully wish I had the caps that were manufactured then than today's cap's. I see hundred of bad caps and it's due to a "CHEAP" formula. The "HIGH QUALITY" formula was stolen and then imitations were used in the process and sold at bottom price so mass production on a large scale wouldn't hurt the profits.

Thanks Guys!
What I figures is this, If I go to a bone yard and just buy anonther one, chances are it's gonna do the same thing. like Drjoe said, it's 99 cent fix and if it doesn't work not big loss. I also figured that since the truck runs ok (except for when the computer sits in cold temps) I figured it's still working and not fried. I should hurry and fix it before it does. I won't run it any more until I fix it!

It's not clear form this thread - did you replace the capacitors? Judging by what I've found, the PCM will still work despite failed/failing capacitors. It seems like it just may function sub-optimally, and eventually fail entirely if the original capacitors are left in place.
