where is the coolant going?

Hi y'all
I have a '03 f-350 with the 6.0 in it. Lately I have been smelling antifreeze in the cab of my truck and am having to add more. It is not leaking on the ground at all. Where is it going? No white smoke and the truck is running like always. any comments will be appreciated.

Check heater.

If you can't see leak readily, either pressure test just the heater, or bypass it and see if it goes away.. then you have your suspect.

If you have a shutoff valve.. that is another suspect.

first guess is the heater core. I don't know a lot about the F-250 but past fords would leak antifreeze onto the passengers floor board may want to check there.

Good luck

Thank you. I had a couple people tell me it was because I had blown head gaskets as well as the heater core. Being a female, I didnt know who to believe and being new to town, have no clue who to trust,

IF you are worried about blown head gaskets, get a test kit to test for combustion products in coolant.

You might want to do it for peace of mind... it is cheap insurance.

On the 6.0, I would thumbnail guess 50% of the diesel techs you ask don't do their homework right before they see dollar signs in their eyes, and extract thousands of your money in their paws before you leave.

Only to not fix the problem...

Thanks for the advice on the test kit. As far as money, I have put about eight grand in that motor over the past year and it still has issues. It still makes a grinding noise in the front right tire and has problems on occasion pulling a travel trailer.
