TSB's

Recently purchased a 2008 Expy Limited ( 62K on the clock ) and opted for the Ford Premium ESP. I was wondering what the deal is with the TSB's. Are they covered under warranty or do I have to pay out of pocket? Do I just tell the service guy I want them done?
I'm interested in the one for the 2-1 downshift bump and is there is one for the 1-2 upshift ( slight flair ).

Thanks,
Matt

Does your truck have the symptoms the TSB lists?

No, they are used by the techs to help THEM fix the problem. If you have a symptom you can reference the TSB to help them out.

Yes it does. When coming to a stop light for example there is a bump just before the vehicle comes to a complete stop.
There is also a slight flair in the shift from 1 to 2 almost like it wants to over-rev.

I know they are to help the techs but if I walk into the service dept and say that the vehicle exhibits these symptoms and I know there was a TSB on it will they charge me to do the work or is it covered under the warranty?

It will be under warranty becuase you have the ESP. I had that fixed on mine. It's a reflash of the TCM.

Thanks berry1234,
I hope that means I don't have to pay the deductible either. Right?

Is there one for the 1-2 upshift?

No, you will have to pay the deductible. Read your ESP contract.

I think there might be on for the 1-2 shift.

A TSB is not a recall so yes you will have to pay the deductible.

Just be careful on how you approach them with the TSB's, some don't like informed consumers.

I forgot to mention this vehicle was a "Ford Certified PreOwned" ( whatever that means nowadays ) and just looked over my paperwork that states it has a 6 yr/100K Powertrain limited warranty, 3month/3K Comprehensive limited warranty, and 3 month Sirius subscription. I have not put 3K on it and it's been less than 3 months, also I need to talk to the dealer about activating the Sirius which wasnt done when I bought it.

Will this make a difference with regards to having the TSB's done for $0 ?
