Jag front clip with a flathead

Has any one swap a jag front end in f1 51 with a flat head? I know that you can get a power steering pump to mount on the fan pulley. What about the pan might be a problem with clearance? Any thoughts on this trying to make a plan on this build. i have a jag front and rear but may use on another project. Thanks George

I didn't use my flathead instead I used a 351M with a rear sump. No problem clearance wise but with a front sump the pan will hit. So check to make sure your pan will clear.

The pickup flathead has a rear sump. So that's a start in the right direction.

I am going to go out on a limb and say that I think that the Jag IFS will fit with the flathead. Take a look at the pix in 48steel's galllery and think about how the flathead sits in the engine bay. Those of us installing later engines typically remove the triangular front motor mounts however they sit above the Jag. I can't remember exactly how the flathead exhaust manifolds are configured (I am more familiar with the 32-40 manifolds) but there should be a workable stock flathead ford manifold.

I think one could always rise the motor, there's a ton of room under the hood.

both my flatties and the one in the 52 customline have rear sumps as our fave cave man noted so it should fit . if not get a great big B.F.H. and simply make it fit .........
