My '95 obs had the original fail @ 95k, currently running on a grey one. Will switch it to one of my black ones when time allows. My SD is still on the original @ 158k.
Mine failed around 100k shortly after I got the truck. Not sure if the PO had a failure or not but that dang thing was bolted in so tight that I cracked the socket, so I figure it was original. The one in there now has roughly 68k on it. Its also a black one. I have 3 more spares and 1 spare gray which I bought to shut them up about the recall. No noticeable difference when I put that one in to have the recall written off as done.
Never had one fail. Had the original black in there until about 75k, got the gray in for the recall, then bought another black from Clay. It's in there now, gray is the backup...
The black one in mine kind of failed at about 200k. It would cut out and back on going down the highway. I replaced it with another black OEM about two years ago and it is still running strong.
My original black went at about 80k 4yrs. ago. Bought a new OEM black. No issues yet. Have not done the recall. Have the letters for recall in glove box.
