Can anyone give me details on PTO setup?
whats the cheapest way to do it? I have a 2000 7.3 with the manual tranny, so I'm told I can bolt on a PTO. Where is the best place to start looking for one of these? Anywhere to get a used one or something? I'm trying to get a rough estimate of cost, I've heard the PTO's are $2-3k new...
I would like to run some hydraulic quick connects to my bumper for various uses - has anyone set up a system on there trucks here? Tell me about it...
Thanks,
Chris

Turboner- Not sure about what will fit and what won't. Hopefully one of the farmers or ranchers will chime in!

If memory serves me correctly, There are two grades of PTO. The standard unit should work for what you want. I assume you are going to drive a hydraulic pump. I used to install PTOs for driving a blower for pneumatic bulk conveying. Those blowers needed the larger HD PTO. I don't recall the difference but probably the bearing set up inside thePTO. No reason it wouldn't work if you design it right.
I would look for a power transmission sales outfit or driveline supply store.
