On my 03 Navigator, the key will not come out of the igniton when in park. The linkage is fine on the transmission side. I think I need to adjust it at the lever inside the car. My questions is how to access the lever through the center consel? Am I on the right track or should I be trying to adjust it on the trans side?

 

On the plus side you don't have to worry about misplacing your key anymore.

Under the dash...disconnect the shifter cable then try moving the shifter to park to see if the key comes out. If it does then you know the problem is with the cable adjustment hanging it up. If the key still doesn't come out then the problem is within the column.

 

The problem is in the cable. I can make it work when I crawl under the car and work it by hand. I am wondering if the adjustment is on the shift lever side and I am not sure how to get to it through the console.

 

The cable adjustment is down at the tranny.
