Old bread truck

Someday I'm going to see how high I can make this computer bounce. It just ate a long answer. There's a popular plot in science fiction regarding the day that computers become intelligent and self-aware, and begin plotting the demise of humans, But I am eagerly awaiting that day . . . because on that day, computers will have also acquired the capacity to know fear . . . and to feel pain . . . and THAT is the day I shall begin taking my revenge!!
The brake switch on this '68 P350 is apparently the same as the photo Parts Train shows for '91-97 Explorer.
The Early Ford turn signal switch is perfect, as if it were made with the original tooling.
Horizon Ford, Renton, WA, got three hits on their computer last week for switches in the Midwest. At the first place, the Parts man was always somewhere else, and his acting replacement never had time to talk to me. The second place never got me anything but a phone message to leave a callback number, and I'm usually in the field and making lots of noise. The third place had a switch, the electrical side only, and not the mounting ring or canceling mechanism; for this they wanted $150 plus shipping. So I looked further and found Early Ford.
Again, many thanks for your interest and efforts!! In my ignorance, I'm a little surprised that all of the versions of the one-ton chassis, the E, F, and P350, don't have as much commonality of parts as possible. Maybe this is something that FoMoCo is changing now under Alan Mullaly . . . .

The P Series dates back much further than the Econoline (introduced 1961). Originally known as the Vanette, it was redesigned and refered to as the F3 Parcel Delivery 1948/52, it became the P Series in 1953.
1961/74: The Econoline is an integral body, worthless to mount any sort of body on, because... Integrals have no separate frame, the whole tamale, body/frame is one welded unit. That all changed in 1975.

Welcome to the forum. Unless you know for a fact the truck is configured as original, tear it down and see what parts it has. Carry those parts to a good parts house like NAPA and let them match what was in it, what you need. A lot could have been changed since 1973. My guess is at least a couple transmission and engine options were available. Your truck may match the numbers and may not. Good luck and post back. You probably would be better served to start a new thread in the correct forum. This thread is a couple years old.

You don't give a location, but in some big towns there are old specialist companies that might know more than the generalists like NAPA (which, however, certainly is more likely to be of help than the chains that mostly sell oil filters, batteries, and such). For example, here in Seattle we have an old outfit, Brake and Clutch Supply, that has been around for ages and is likely to have an old-timer on hand that remembers everything. Also, companies of this type always sell better parts than the chains.

I have an old bread truck: 1973 P400.

The P350/400/500 (P350/500) clutch assembly is the same, see below for applications.
VIN: P40BVS35337 / WB 154 / TRANS A / AXLE 28A / DSO 870852
AM1 83-72092473 Not FoMoCo related, probably related to the body maker.
