Ign control module

My 1979 Bronco developed a major miss this weekend. After doing some testing I figured it was coming from cyls 1 and 6, direct oposites on the distributor. It ran perfectly before this. It has a brand new 460 with edelbrock performer carb and intake. Motorcraft 8.5mm wires and autolite double platinum plugs. My question is, the ignition module (original) is melting that amber colored goo from the back. I am thinking my problem is coming from this. Any suggestions.

usually when they start to ozze the goop out the back, they have overheated, and soon will let you stranded in the intersection. replace it, and the miss should go away

I replaced the module, reset the timing and finally found out it was just a hunk of crap in the carb. DUH
