Looking for part # B8T-18472-T

I believe I am looking for two of these hoses, if I read the parts manual correctly - They go between the heater in the cab and the engine and are preformed. This would be on the 1970 C600

It has been a bit since I hae posted - been busy rounding up what I need and assembling the top of the engine, but I have come up short on these hoses, the old one are just to far gone, and it would be nice to hae some heat this winter.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks, David

You can do one of three things.

1) Go to the auto parts store and ask if you can look through their inventory of pre-formed hoses and see if you can come up with something that'll work.

2) Use generic heater hose and route it in a way that it doesn't wear against anything.

3) Use something from Gates with generic heater hose, that looks like this:

Gates Unicoil - when curved/molded hose isn't available. - Hose - Products | Gates Corporation

Krewat - Good suggestions, I looked but havent found anything that I hae been able to use off the shelf. I may have to sweat up some copper pipes, but that in its self is a bit of a project that will require pulling the heater out.

Bill - Please feel free to help me out here, I am still a newbie at reading the Ford parts manual - I went to section 180, looked up hoses, found that hoses (heater water) were under class number of 18472, went to that section, and found at the very top of the page the listinng as 64/ ,All, Preformed 5/8 ID x 9+7.37 ...... and the part number listed was that B8T number.

???? still learning!

Thanks David

B8T18472T was prolly replaced at a later date. I cannot verify this until 10/19, as I'm on vacation in Hawaii.

You looked up the wrong number (or typed the wrong suffix in error). Text-Section 182, page 6 = B8T18472A not T. There is no T listed.

5/8" preformed 97.37" long. If still interested, I found SEVEN of these hoses NOS.

Bill, yes, I was wrong on the "T"

Now however, I am questioning if I even looked up the right part in the first place. If you could help me out and confirm, I would really appreciate it.

What I am looking for are the two 5/8" heater hoses from the engine to the heater assy. The ones that came off - 40 years old - had not only a very tight premolded S bend at the heater end, but also about 8" down from there had a lazy 90 degree bend, all these were molded from the factory.

There are also two grommets (at least what I would call them) where the two heater hose pass thru the cab floor. I have yet to find these listed. Would Ford have used some other discription for these?

Again, if the B8t-18472-A is the correct part number then yes, I need two. If not, then I am still confused and learning how the Ford parts book reads.

Thank you, David

B8T18472A is the only heater hose that fits your criteria.

ANDERSON FORD in Clinton IL has 1 = 217-935-3106.

NOS PARTS SOURCE in Lenexa KS has 1 = 913-220-5746.

BOWMAN SALES & SERVICE in Bowman ND has 2 = 701-523-3257.

GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has 3 = 800-543-4959.

What Ford used on the assembly line may be different when service part replacements are bought at the parts counter.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following will be found in Illustration Section 184, page 2 / A better pic is found on page 3. Different application, same part number (359452S).

377393S (replaced 359452S) .. Rubber Grommet-Heater Hose to Floor Pan / Obsolete

BOWMAN SALES & SERVICE has 1.

SUSANVILLE FORD in Susanville CA has 2 = 530-257-2137.

ENCHANTMENT FORD in Las Vegas NM has 5 = 505-425-7546.

GREEN SALES CO. has 97.

NumberDummy - THANK YOU!

I am going to order from green tommrow - I had found a PCV carb spacer plate from them and I enjoyed dealing with them. Yes, a part that I actually looked up and it was even the right part I am learning Fords parts book.

David

Edit - 10/28 parts ordered! Bill, thank you again!
