Yeah I've been running 5w-40 rotella and a couple oil changes later I did the hot shots, and since the hot shots I have not had a problem. Like I said it works for some and doesn't for others.

I've never heard anyone to say that you shouldn't run synthetic on a 6.0.

There are some good additives out there along with some not so good. Now for the 6.0 injectors that suffer from stiction it doesn't hurt to try an oil additive like Hot Shot or Rev X to see if it solves your problem before investing in a new and expensive set of injectors.

I for one can say Rev X worked on eliminating injector stiction on my truck before I got the new inductive heat flash so I know this oil additive worked for my application. It's expensive and requires continued use and the upgraded flash cost about ~$100 one time expense so thats the long term fix I went with.

I thought alcohol in the fuel was a no-no.

I contacted the management at Sea Foam....their reply:

Sea Foam has only 6% IPA by volume for moisture control and has been used in diesels for 60 years without any problems.

I'm not saying that it won't work for the 6.0 or that it's bad for the 6.0(I'm not saying that it isn't either), but just because it worked in past diesels doesn't mean that it's going to work that well with regard to the newer ones. Imagine what things worked with past diesels that don't cut the mustard with the 6.0, even when comparing a past diesel like the 7.3 psd versus the 6.0. A lot of differences between the two that make what works with one doesn't work with the other.

According to their own MSDS (what I linked), it's 10-20% by weight.

I've read too many times about alcohol in additives and our very high pressure injectors.

I put Hot Shots in mine about 2500 miles ago and I have to say that I am impressed. I use 15-40 Rotella in mine and it was acting crazy on cold starts.....usually always a puff of white smoke that smelled like diesel fuel and it would miss and shake when it would start. Now I have started it without plugging it in down to 5*F and it started great. Every now and again it will puff out a little smoke but it starts up and idles smooth. I didnt notice any MPG difference but it was well worth the money to me.
