I got 95 psd 297k miles on it and every 4k miles rite before my 5k miles oil change i have to add 3/4 off a quart is this normal ???I think I'm gone start changing oil now every 4k miles .

 

Im sure its normal, i mean it is a diesel and they are 13 years old. As far as my truck it doesnt use a drop. but my Mercedes diesel uses about a quart before the oil change..

 

Ya, that's no big deal. If you use it very hard at all I'd change sooner too. I change every 3000.

 

Braging or complaining . I used to change every 5, but now I change every 7. Just hwy miles not loaded. I messed up the last one and went 10, and was 1 quart low. I check it once a week.

 

Few guys on here, me included, change around 3k-4k.
The oil starts to break down around 3k. so that 3/4 qt your seeing missing might be the loss of oil due to break down.
I've noticed with trucks that they will suddenly be low even though you check them all the time. So I have just attributed it to break down.
I loose more though with my leaky Hpop seal.

 

Mine leaks a bunch more than it burns.

 

I'm in the same boat. It leaks much more then it burns.
