65 Carb Question

All carbs gots venturis, elsewise they'd be worthless as a t'mater can.
Seriously, a venturi is a restriction that causes an increase in air velocity. That increase in air velocity causes a pressure reduction that sucks fuel into the air stream atomizing it. That's what every carb does.
Is your question whether the carb you have is the right one?

No didnt know they all had them, as this is my first project of a automotive type I seem to be learning by leaps and bounds lol!
ok, How does my carb differ from what is a dual venturi carb that was on the 351 windsor cop cars, I am sure that they were on other vehicles, but that is what I remember the dealer talking to me about when my patrol vehicle was messing up.
Thanks!

C5TF-Y = C5TZ9510M .. 2V Carburetor = 1965 F100/350 352 w/a manual transmission.
The same basic Auto-Lite/Motorcraft 2V was used 1962/74 on all FoMoCo vehicles.
The 2V carb kit is the same for all of them.
After 1974, there were myriad different 2V's until EFI was introduced in the 1980's.

Carbs are described as 2v or 4v as an example indicating 2 venturi (barrel) or 4 venturi. Venturi = barrel, or passage directly through the carb body where the air and fuel mix. Remove the air cleaner, look down, and however many large passages with throttle plates at the bottom you see, that's your venturi number.
Ford did make a horrible "variable venturi" carb in, what?, the 1980s that you may be thinking of. Most of these have been sent to the trash bin and replaced with standard carbs by now.

While most have been replaced, in CA that isn't the case.
CA smog tests all vehicles 1976 and newer, so the turds have to remain on the vehicles.

65F100390: 1 14 does not refer to jets. What it does refer to, I haven't a clue.
Three different jets were offered for the C5TF-Y carburetor.
2) C3UZ9533A .. Carburetor Jet / #52F = 0-5,000 ft. (Motorcraft CJ133).
2) C3UZ9533C .. Carburetor Jet / #50F = 5,000-10,000 ft. (Motorcraft CJ141).
2) C3UZ9533D .. Carburetor Jet / #48F = 10,000-15,000 ft. (Motorcraft CJ142).

This site will show a lot about all the major parts of a Ford engine and drivetrain.

The simple answer is they simply didn't work. Sometimes a bad design is just that. I can't tell you specifically why they were so awful, I just know that I had a lot of repair shops installing Holleys in place of those when I worked behind the counter in the mid 1980s.
