Plowing Ain’t Easy: Unsung Series Shows Ford Trucks Hard at Work

“”by Anthony Starros

Right now, record snowfall is making headlines””and causing havoc””in the Southern parts of the US.  But even though folks are used to it North of the Mason Dixon line, making sure the roads are clear is no easy task.

This short film in the Shell Rotella Unsung Series chronicles a snow plow driver’s day in Upper Peninsula, Michigan, which starts when he pulls his truck out of the garage at 4AM, the lights above the plow illuminating drifts which reach halfway up stop signs.

Unsurprisingly, plow drivers have their work cut out for them on the Keeweenaw Peninsula.  Chris Bonen and his dog spend a brutal 12 hours a day manning the helm clearing roads, but fortunately his beefy Blue Oval looks like it makes the job a little easier.  His trusty truck takes the abuse in stride, and still manages to look pretty mean””even when he kindly steps out in the cold to shovel a path to an elderly person’s home.
