Ford F-150 Brings Home Social Media Victory for Month of June
Twitter. It’s the place you go when you want to see experts in the fields of science, politics, and engineering — even if the people you’re reading really are just hourly workers at McDonald’s. It’s also the place where people spend a lot of time talking about their favorite things. When it comes to the battlefield of Twitter, Ford beat out the rest of the competition in the month of June as the king of trucks on Twitter.
According to Automotive News, Ford out-tweeted and out-socialed the other truck makers to a top position. Even though Ford won the award last month, overall Ford F-150 conversations on the social media network were down 12%. Second place Ram 1500 saw a drop of 20%, and third place Toyota Tacoma was down 17%.
For those who like to keep track of Ford vs. The World, this is clearly a victory for the folks in the Ford camp. What is interesting is that last month General Motors spent a lot of money on an advertising campaign to get people talking about the Chevrolet Silverado’s use of steel in the bed compared to Ford’s use of aluminum. Even after all the hubbub about it, the Silverado didn’t even make it on the top five list.
