1978 Ford F-150 Ranger Lariat Build

FTE Build

When it comes to learning how to work on trucks, you’ve got to start somewhere. Sometimes that might just be with minor repairs, a bolt-on modification here and there, or maybe helping someone else with their ride.

Other times, it just seems best to dive in head first. That’s exactly what FTE member quest4reds decided to do. He purchased a 1978 Ford F-150 Ranger Lariat with no experience working on cars or trucks with the intention of learning along the way, and so far it seems to be going pretty well!

To be more specific, the ride is a 1978 Ford F-150 Ranger Lariat with two wheel drive, an eight foot bed, and a 6.6L 400 cubic inch V8 under the hood. The short term plan that quest4reds has set forth  is to just get the rig running and driving well, while repairing “trouble spots” on the body along the way.

His long term goal is the perform a complete frame-off restoration, with the hopes that his oldest son will be able to take his prom date in the ride in the future.
