This Ford Maverick Hauls Just About Anything One Can Imagine
It may be small, but the Ford Maverick is still quite capable.
Big Test
From the day it debuted, Ford was quick to point out that the affordable, economical Maverick was also a real truck - even if it doesn't utilize body-on-frame construction. The Maverick is quite capable of hauling all sorts of things in its small bed, but we doubt that anyone has put their compact pickup to the test quite like Al Cummings, who recently shared his many hauling endeavors with Drive.

Various Tasks
Cummings owns a Maverick powered by the turbocharged 2.0-liter EcoBoost I-4, which he purchased because he needed something that he could use to help out with various chores. That includes typical things like hauling a grille home from the store, as well as carrying giant logs and a log splitter after cutting down some trees.

Universal Tool
The Maverick has also been used to haul a riding lawnmower, giant boxes, and pretty much anything else one can imagine, as we can see in the photos that Cummings has taken of his many adventures. "I call it my little mule," he said. "It works perfectly fine for what I need. It's a truck. I use it like a truck. I commute 26 miles to work so I wanted something good on gas and versatile. I do have a restored 1970 F-250 I can use for the big stuff."

Big Help
Though it has a max payload capacity of 1,500 pounds, Cummings clearly isn't afraid to put his Maverick to the test, as well as stretch those limits. However, he also notes that the pickup's bed extender comes in handy with most of these situations, providing the space needed to carry larger, longer items in the rear.

Hauler and Puller
In addition to hauling all sorts of gear in the back of his Maverick, Cummings also routinely uses the compact pickup to pull a single-axle Vintage Cruiser camper, which is possible thanks to the fact that it's equipped with the optional 4K Tow Package - enabling the vehicle to pull loads weighing up to 4,000 pounds.

More Common?
While many truck owners these days don't actually use them like, well, trucks, that certainly isn't the case with this one. However, with the Maverick proving appealing as a more affordable alternative to large, expensive pickups, we wouldn't be surprised to see more of them out hauling all sorts of things are more of them roll off the assembly line.
