Special Occasion

Ford continues to roll out new and exciting products, including, most recently, the 2021 Ford Bronco, Bronco Sport, and 2022 F-150 Lightning. Now, the 2022 Ford Maverick will soon help Ford compete in the compact pickup segment it abandoned roughly a decade ago when it discontinued the last-gen Ranger. This debut certainly calls for a special, limited-edition model, and the Maverick First Edition is precisely that.

Price of Admission

To snag a First Edition, Maverick buyers must first opt for Lariat trim, which starts out at $25,490. However, it also requires that buyers not only pay $1,495 extra for the First Edition package but also $3,340 more for the Lariat Luxury package. That brings the minimum price for the First Edition to $33,005 (including destination and delivery charges), sans any additional options.

Luxury Features

The Lariat Luxury package adds a host of features, including Adaptive Cruise Control, an 8-speaker B&O sound system, heated seats and steering wheel, remote start, Lane Centering, SYNC 3 with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a wireless charging pad, a 400W inverter, and a host of other amenities.

Rolling Stock

The First Edition package builds upon that by adding unique 17-inch aluminum wheels with 236/65R17 all-terrain tires for models equipped with Ford's optional 2.0L EcoBoost I-4, or black-painted 18-inch wheels with 225/60R18 all-season rubber for hybrid models.

Unique Color

Finally, buyers can also choose an exterior color that  is only available on First Edition Mavericks as well - Rapid Red, which costs $495 extra and is a late availability option.

Ultimate Maverick

Those seeking a fully-loaded, unique, and somewhat rare version of the brand new Maverick will still find a lot of value in the First Edition, even with its heftier price tag. But for those that just wanted the cheapest pickup on the market, the sub-$20k base model is still there to provide the ultimate modern-day value.
