Tasteful Build

These days, everyone knows precisely what the Ford Bronco is - a rugged, off-road-focused SUV with boxy styling and loads of appeal. However, only the more astute classic car fans know that the original first-generation Bronco was also offered in half cab or pickup form, complete with a rather small bed good for hauling a few things, at least. Recently, Ford Era had the chance to check out this very nice 1974 Ford Bronco half cab in person, which has been treated to a few tasteful upgrades.

Sky High

The owner of this Bronco half cab purchased it from someone at a car show and has since proceeded to do a little work to it, all with the intention of making it a nice and reliable driver. That process included adding a Skyjacker suspension lift, which helps make room for a set of Super Swamper tires, notably.

Clean and Simple

Those aggressive mud tires measure 35 inches in diameter and 14 inches in terms of width, which totally transforms the look of the pickup. Otherwise, however, there aren't a ton of mods to mention, save for a few minor upgrades inside the cabin like an aftermarket steering wheel.

Rebuilt and Ready

Power for this particular rig comes from the tried-and-true 302 V8, which in this case has been left alone save for the addition of a mild camshaft and an aluminum radiator. The owner also added some rebuilt components like the brake booster and steering box on the mechanical side of things.

Wear and Tear

On the outside, the original light blue paint remains intact, though the owner isn't sure if it's been resprayed at some point over the years. There are some flaws and a little patina as one might expect, but nothing that detracts from how cool this Bronco half-cab truly is - in fact, it may even make it better.

Perfect As-Is

While it's obviously not some sort of concours-level rig that's going to rack up awards for how perfect or original it is, this 1974 Ford Bronco half cab is precisely what the owner wanted - a cool old ride that's sure to turn heads everywhere it goes. And truthfully, who wouldn't want something like that in their garage?
