Confirmed Date

The next-gen Ford F-150 Raptor has been one of the worst kept secrets in the automotive world in recent months. We knew, as soon as the all-new 2021 F-150 debuted that it would soon be supplemented by a new Raptor, and in the months since, we've seen all sorts of spy photos of prototypes testing and heard plenty of rumors about the new truck. And now, we finally know when it will be revealed - February 3, 2021, Ford has confirmed.

Retaking the Crown

On that exciting day, we'll very likely see a truck that will quickly dethrone the Ram TRX, which temporarily took the Raptor's crown with its 702 horsepower, supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V8. That's because Ford is reportedly planning to offer two different powertrains in the next-gen Raptor.

Engine Options

The base engine will likely be some version of Ford's EcoBoost V6, like the current model, though it could also be the more powerful, brand new 3.5-liter PowerBoost hybrid. But the real news is the upgraded powerplant rumored to be heading for the new Raptor - Ford's supercharged 5.2-liter Predator V8 from the Mustang Shelby GT500, which could make upwards of 750 or so horsepower.

New Suspension

In addition to the new engine options, the next-gen F-150 Raptor will also be riding on a brand new coil spring suspension at all four corners, which the TRX also employs. Coupled with the typical host of Raptor suspension upgrades, including Fox shocks, that should make it even more capable off-road than ever before.

Off-Road Tech

Since the TRX rolls on 35-inch tires, we'd expect the Raptor to at least match that, with 37-inch rubber a distinct possibility as well. And it's virtually a lock that Ford will throw every piece of off-road technology it can come up with at the new Raptor, including perhaps some things it learned developing the 2021 Bronco.

Styling Updates

As far as styling goes, it's a pretty safe bet that the new F-150 Raptor will combine the updated looks of the 2021 F-150 with its namesake features, including a wider stance and that signature, bold "Ford" logo front grille, combined with the new F-150's more stylish and technology-laden interior.

Revenge Is Sweet

We're certainly excited for the next-gen Raptor's reveal, and we'll be on hand to cover that historic day next week. With any luck, the only people who won't be happy to see it are Ram executives, who may soon regret calling out the Raptor in such a public manner.
