Rolling Billboard

Scott Pye has a pretty enviable day job as a driver in Australia's Supercars Championship, but in his spare time, he also has his own business dubbed One Nine Media, a social media, content production, and media agency. To help promote that business, Pye recently enlisted Erebus Garage to transform an old, beat-up 1956 Ford F-100 into a rolling billboard and his new daily driver.

Three-Headed Project

The idea for the build came from Ryan Carter of United Speed Shop, however, making this a multi-partner project. "We started the relationship with Erebus after James White, the head fabricator there, rang up because he wanted a front end for a personal project," Carter told Street Machine. "James recently mentioned that Erebus Garage was building a shop truck for Scott Pye, so we started talking about potential set-ups."

Parts List

The parts list for this Pro Street build is quite extensive already, even if it just recently got underway. That lineup includes an independent front end from Magnum, a parallel four-link rear, a Pedders coilover suspension, revised chassis, and giant brakes.

Coyote Power

Power will come from Ford's popular 5.0-liter Coyote V8, which will be backed up by a 10-speed automatic transmission for easy cruising with loads of power on tap. "Scotty told James what he wanted, and then James and I told Scotty what he needed," Ryan explained. "Scotty wants something that looks old-school and tough and isn't too modern or pretty. I had already made a Magnum front end to suit the Coyote, but James got one scanned so we knew it would be perfect."

Usable Power

This won't be some stock Coyote swap, however, which we wouldn't expect from a pro racecar driver anyway. "The aim with the Coyote is to have something that is capable of delivering massive power, but reliably," James said. "We want to set it up so he can turn it up in two years if he wants because he is a bit used to having massive power under his foot. But he still wants to use it, whether that is driving to meetings or throwing dirt bikes in the back."

Subtle Modifications

As for the body of this beast, there are quite a few modifications taking place after the whole thing was 3D scanned so it can be tweaked digitally. "There are a lot of little subtle details in this build, like the new headlight bezels and the '55 grille in a '56 front end," James says. "We worked hard between us all to get something that looks almost standard but has a lot of hidden modifications."

Intriguing Project

The goal with this 1956 F-100 is to retain its stock character and charm, but add enough subtle modifications to make it extra special. And as it sits, this project certainly looks intriguing enough that we'll be interested to see how it all pans out in the end.
