Perfect Platform

For many of us, nothing beats a 1953-1956 Ford pickup. These iconic rides have long been incredibly popular hot rods, as they pack some seriously appealing styling and plenty of room for improvement in terms of chassis and drivetrain setups. And this beautiful '56 F-100 we spotted over at Vanguard Motor Sales certainly sports plenty of upgrades.

Holding Up

According to the seller, this particular pickup received a full, professional restoration back in 2008. And even though that was over a decade ago, this old F-100 looks like it's fresh off that major redo.

Comfy Confines

Inside, you'll find plenty of upgrades that make this old Ford a comfy place to sit, too. There's a classic wood-rimmed steering wheel, cozy looking black trim, and a custom center console designed to hold a couple of cold drinks on cruise night.

Ford Power

Pop the hood, and you'll find some good old fashioned Ford power in the form of a 351 Windsor V8. There are a few visible upgrades, including an aftermarket carb, intake manifold, and headers to pump out the pleasing sounds it certainly makes.

Star of the Show

The exterior of this F-100 is certainly the star of the show, however. Razor-straight body panels still sport much of the original trim, which is all either brand-new or reconditioned to perfection.

No Upgrades Here

Even the old tailgate chains remain. But you wouldn't be fooled into thinking this F-100 is anything but a modern build, thanks to its lowered stance, modern rolling stock, and gorgeous paint job.

Careful Thought

No, this build features mods only where it counts. While a lot of folks go crazy trying to smooth out and modernize their pickups from this era, this build concentrates on upgrading only the things that really need upgrading.

Don't Mess with Perfection

And that's really the way we like them, to be honest. With freshly stained wood in the bed, original trim, and untouched fenders. After all, why would anyone want to mess with what's already considered perfection?

Pleasant Upgrades

That's not to say this F-100 doesn't cruise like something much more modern, however. You can thank a host of pleasant upgrades like power steering and brakes, front discs, and air conditioning for that.

Just Right

Throw in an automatic overdrive transmission and not-too-big-or-crazy wheels, and you've got what we think is one tastefully modded classic. And we're guessing that there isn't anyone out there who wouldn't be proud to show it all off every weekend!
