Bigfoot Feelings

Those of us that grew up watching the iconic Bigfoot monster truck grow into a worldwide sensation know the feeling all too well. Every time we come across the '70s Ford pickup with a giant lift and blue paint we immediately think of that amazing piece of Blue Oval history. And that's precisely what came to mind when we first saw David Ringley's incredible 1979 Ford F-150, recently featured over at Ford Trucks Daily.

Starting Young

Like many old Ford trucks we came across, this 1979 F-150 was passed down from family member to family member, as Ringley's father purchased it 36 years ago. At the tender age of 15, Ringley began restoring the truck back in 2005, even doing all the body and paintwork while he was still in high school.

Blue Oval Power

Originally, the F-150 came with Ford's beloved inline-six powerplant, but Ringley has since replaced it with a firebreathing 545 cubic-inch, 460-derived beast of a motor that's fitted with Trick Flow heads, a BDS 8-71 blower, and three carbs on top, which sends power to the wheels via a C6 automatic transmission.

One-Tonner

The rest of the drivetrain has received upgrades as well, with a 10.25-inch rear axle hosting an e-locker for added strength. The big truck now features disc brakes at all four corners and is in the process of receiving a 79-king-pin Dana 60 in the front to fill out the soon-to-be one-ton package.

Make Me Massive

Then there's the suspension lift, which measures in at an impressive 12 inches total. That makes room for equally massive 15x16-inch Weld SR28 wheels wrapped with 44-inch mud bogging tires that aren't exactly quiet or comfy on the highway, but who cares when you look this cool?

DIY

As amazing as it looks right now, Ringley isn't quite finished with his classic F-150. Regardless, it's impressive that he's done almost all of the work himself, save for stitching up the custom interior and laying down the lettering and pinstriping. And while it may not be Bigfoot itself, the truck certainly deserves to be compared to one of the greatest Blue Oval pickups of all time.
