Clean 1979 Ford F-150 Has All the Right Stuff
Daily Slideshow: It's easy to debate what makes the perfect truck, but you'll have a hard time arguing against this gorgeous 1978 Ford F-150 with a mighty 460 V8 under the hood.
Truck Lovers Unite
Like most things in life, opinions on trucks are truly subjective. Some like 'em big and brash, others simple and clean. Some like Fords (duh), while other like Chevys or Dodges (ew). But we'd bet you'll have a hard time finding anybody that can say anything negative about this stunning 1978 Ford F-150 we spotted on Bring a Trailer recently.
Hey Good Lookin'
For starters, most would argue that the '78 and '79 Fords are the best looking trucks ever produced. Cover that sweet sheetmetal in a gorgeous shade of blue, and it looks even better. The paint, along with much of the trim, was redone just a few months ago, too.

Original...Mostly
Most everything on the exterior of this Explorer-trimmed F-150 is original spec stuff. Except for the wheels and tires, of course. But we're personally digging the later-model aluminum wheels and modestly-sized 235/75 rubber.

Well Preserved
With just 95k miles on the odometer, it's no surprise that this old Ford has held up so well over the last several decades. It was also reportedly purchased by the selling dealer from only the second owner, so it hasn't changed hands very often.

Routine Maintenance
Over the last ten years, quite a bit of maintenance has been done that promises to keep this F-150 running for decades to come. That includes installing a new water pump, master cylinder, brake booster, and rear u-joints.

Pure Perfection
The interior is in equally beautiful condition with a cloth and vinyl wrapped blue bench seat. Options are few and far between, but everything from the dash to the door panels and even the faux wood trim appears to be in absolutely perfect condition.

Tow Rig
This F-150 was obviously used for towing, as it packs a trailer brake controller mounted under the dash. And we're betting it was quite the reliable and comfortable tow rig, as these trucks have racked up many miles toting various trailers behind them.

Mighty V8 Power
This particular F-150 shouldn't have any problems towing just about any kind of load thanks to the fact that it packs a mighty 460 under the hood. Ford's monster V8 sports a 4-barrel carb up top, and it's backed up by 3-speed automatic transmission.

Total Refresh
The big motor has also received some updates in recent years, including new valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, wires, and distributor. It breathes through a new exhaust system and even stays cooler hauling heavy loads thanks to an aluminum radiator.

Ultimate Compliment
All-in-all, this '79 F-150 is what many would consider a total dream truck. It has pretty much everything you could possibly want in a classic Ford hauler, with nothing unsavory. It certainly made us think long and hard about bidding, that's for sure. And as picky as we are, that's the ultimate compliment in itself!
