Wackiest of Them All

We come across all sorts of wild and wacky rides on a daily basis. But sometimes, we see something that's so over-the-top that it leaves us virtually speechless. That's certainly the case with this mini big rig up for sale at Gateway Classic Cars, which is actually a 1983 Ford F-150 underneath. But it sure doesn't look like one anymore.

Attention Getter

Clearly, whoever built this thing has a soft spot for big rigs. Otherwise, we're not sure what their motivation for creating it was, but here we are. If nothing else, you can drive it with a normal license, so there's that. And we're confident that this rig will attract a ton of attention everywhere it goes, whether that be the local mall or a car show.

Looking the Part

Regardless, the older F-150 now wears bodywork that is designed to resemble a Kenworth semi, complete with lots of chrome, air horns, auxiliary lighting, side stacks, huge mirrors, and all the little details you'd expect from a real big rig. Even the wheels look the part, though there are only four of them.

Cabin Redo

The interior has received an overhaul as well, with diamond-shaped upholstery, a big wooden-rimmed steering wheel, and a wooden dash full of gauges. Aside from its smaller size, you'd think you were in a real semi after hopping in here. All that's missing is a sleeper cab.

Diesel Power

When you lift the hood of a semi, you expect to see a diesel engine, and that's what you'll find in this mini version too. In this case, the previous owner went with a 6.2-liter turbo-diesel, which sends power to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. The seller notes that it'll cruise along at 60 mph, but we doubt it'll go much faster.

Needs Work

This custom truck has a host of welcome features including power steering and brakes, as well as air conditioning, though the latter isn't currently working. The speedometer and odometer aren't functioning either, so the new owner will need to do a little work to get it operating perfectly.

Special Buyer

This crazy build obviously isn't for everyone, and it'll take a special kind of buyer to come along and see its potential. But we imagine that there has to be more than one person on earth who thinks that this mini big rig is cool enough to part with some hard-earned cash.
