Interesting Details

Ford just pulled the covers off the preliminary 2021 F-150 configurator, and while it may not feature every single option just yet, it's a good start for anyone thinking about buying the new pickup when it launches later this year. We've spent some time playing around with it since then, and the build & price tool has provided us with some interesting information, including details regarding the cost of the new PowerBoost Hybrid option.

Restrictions Apply

For starters, it's worth noting that the hybrid option is not available on Regular Cab or Super Cab configurations - only SuperCrew F-150s. However, buyers can opt for PowerBoost on the entry-level XL model, in both two- and four-wheel-drive configurations.

Basement Level

That means that the cheapest way to get a new hybrid F-150 is to go with the XL, SuperCrew, two-wheel-drive model, which will set you back $42,950. This is of course a pretty bare-bones model, but buyers who want more features can certainly have them for a price.

Varying Prices

While the PowerBoost Hybrid is a $3,330 option on the XL, it costs an additional $4,495 to add to the XLT. That brings the cost of the next-level-up trim level to at least $46,500. However, PowerBoost costs $3,300 to add to Lariat, which gives it an entry-level price tag of $52,050.

Rounding Out

King Ranch buyers will only have to spend an additional $2,500 ($60,525) to snag the PowerBoost option, while Platinum shoppers have to cough up the same amount ($63,305). Limited buyers pay the least amount for the upgrade ($1,900), but that still brings the entry-level price up to a whopping $74,420.

Going Up

Check all the boxes on the configurator, and you can option a 2021 Ford F-150 Limited that packs a roughly $83,000 price tag. Of course, most buyers opt for something in the middle, but we imagine the hybrid box will be something quite a few folks check off.

Impressive Numbers

Depending on how you use your truck, the PowerBoost hybrid option could very well pay for itself. Ford says it will add 47 horsepower to its 14th gen pickup, as well as provide up to 700 miles of range and 12,000 pounds of towing capability - impressive numbers, indeed.
