Fully Restored 1937 Pickup Scores Prestigious Dearborn Award
Fresh off an obsessively detailed frame-off restoration, this early Ford pickup is already securing some pretty coveted hardware.
Coveted Prize
We've seen some amazing restorations in our time, many of which have gone on to win some pretty prestigious awards. But when it comes to this gorgeous 1937 Ford pickup we spotted at Mecum Auctions, a correct frame-off restoration was good enough to help it score a coveted Dearborn Award from the Early Ford Club of America. And looking at the early pickup, it's certainly easy to see why.

Beautiful and Correct
Perfect bodywork is a signature sign of a quality restoration, and this Ford pickup certainly has some straight panels. They're also covered in a classic combination of red and black, which only makes it even more attractive. Perhaps more importantly, the color combo is correct given this Ford's Deluxe trim.

Loaded With Goodies
The loaded Deluxe equipment group also included a chrome-plated grille, dual horns, twin windshield wipers, a chrome windshield surround, dual sun visors, an outside rearview mirror, and dual chrome surrounds on the headlights. These many options only added to what is still a classic and timelessly-styled pickup.

Few Changes
The half-ton pickup was essentially the only 1937 Ford model to carry over mostly unchanged. It is distinguishable, however, by its horizontal grille bars and a revised tailgate with Ford V-8 logo sheet metal. On the inside, you'll find the correct body color dash, black vinyl bench seat and door panels, and rubber floor mat.

High Level of Detail
Along with the tailgate logo, a chrome radiator cap reveals what lies under the hood - a legendary Flathead V8 producing 85 horsepower. This particular example is a work of art in itself, with a high level of detail, showing off goodies including a Stromberg 97 carburetor, woven spark plug wire insulation, and Ford logo V-belt.

Steel and Wood
Backing up the V8 is a three-speed manual transmission with a floor-mounted shifter. In the rear, you'll find a steel floored bed with beautiful woodwork. On top of the bed lies custom-crafted oak bedside rails, which are topped with Genuine Ford Parts stamped-steel signage on both sides.

More Than Deserving
This gorgeous classic Ford pickup is topped off with black artillery-style steel wheels and Firestone Deluxe Champion wide whitewall tires dressed in chrome trim rings and V-8 logo hubcaps. It's a rather perfect example of an iconic breed and one that's more than deserving of any and all honors bestowed upon it moving forward.
