Ford F-150 Electric Renderings Preview the Near Future
When the F-150 EV arrives next year, will it look something like this artist rendering?
Speculative Drawing
The first-ever all-electric Ford F-150 is coming soon, with a targeted reveal date of mid-2022, the automaker has confirmed on multiple occasions. We know little about the F-150 EV, of course, other than the fact that it will be the most powerful F-150 in Ford's lineup, as well as being capable of doing everything an F-150 should be able to do. So far, Ford has only given us a teaser of what the F-150 EV will look like, but YouTuber The Sketch Monkey recently took the time to draw up his own in this video.
Differentiate Me
The Sketch Monkey uses the new 2021 Ford F-150 Tremor as the basis for his EV rendering, essentially giving the front end a clean slate. This is very likely what the actual production electric F-150 will do as well - slap a new front end on the existing, 14th-gen pickup to differentiate it from the rest of the lineup.

Minor Tweaks
The Sketch Monkey is a fan of 2021 F-150's design, so he seeks to simply tweak it a bit for the EV version. That includes keeping the original LED headlights, albeit stretching the amber signature lighting and turning it into a full-fledged light bar. And since EVs don't need a front grille, per se, he also works on closing that section off a bit for aerodynamic purposes.

Keep It Tough
That doesn't mean the front end gets a completely closed-off look, a la Tesla or even the Mach-E, however. TSM leaves some mesh in there and speculates that it could be used for cooling purposes, which we suppose is possible. He also works on implementing a Raptor-like "Ford" script into the front end to keep it looking like a truck and not some sort of egg-like EV.

Bigger Changes
That's not to say that the front end isn't much more closed off than the stock F-150, of course, TSM completely covers up the lower front grille by simply extending the skid plate upward, leaving the tow hooks in place. The Blue Oval does go away, however, in factor of the Raptor script, though the headlights remain.

Not Quite There
The end result is certainly interesting, though we're not so sure it looks great by any means. Personally, we hope that Ford doesn't stray too far from the 2021 F-150's design when it turns it into an EV, and we doubt that will happen anyway. After all, Ford has to convince traditional truck buyers that the F-150 Electric is superior to its ICE-powered brethren, but looks will also play a huge role in gaining acceptance among a tough crowd.
