All hail the king

Overnight, the spec sheet for the 2018 F-Series Super Duty truck was released by Ford and guess what? It is the top dog in five different areas. While I know that doesn't come as a surprise since Ford is America's number 1 truck for as long as I can remember, this is still great news for blue oval fanatics. With the size and capability of the Super Duty it makes sense that the model is king of the hill in horsepower, torque, towing, gooseneck towing, and payload.

What about performance?

If you are in the market for a new Super Duty then just know that if you choose the optional 6.7-liter turbodiesel V8 powerplant then you'll have 450 horsepower and 935 lb-ft of torque at your complete disposal. With the horsepower wars being what they are, we aren't quite sure how long Ford's bragging rights will last. Take to note that the closest competitor being Ram's heavy-duty pickup comes in just 5 horsepower and 5 lb-ft of torque lower than the Ford. Upgrades to the 6.7-liter diesel include cylinder heads redesigned for improved strength under high loads and optimized fuel/turbo boost calibrations.

Because Todd said so

"Super Duty customers expect the best and for 2018 we're giving our customers even more power and torque from our Power Stroke diesel — delivering the most horsepower and torque available among any heavy-duty pickup," Ford truck marketing manager Todd Eckert said in a statement. “The Super Duty lineup is a win for all of our customers, from successful ranchers to contractors to RV owners,” he also remarked.

Truly a great vehicle

The Super-Duty comes along with a new military-grade aluminum body and high-strength steel frame that has dropped 350 pounds from it's the previous iteration while upping its towing and hauling capacity. Inside the cabin, there is more head and legroom, a bevy of storage features, and varying levels of luxury depending on which trim level fits your fancy.

Different strokes for different folks

Speaking of those trims, you'll have six to choose from for the Super-Duty: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and the Limited. Starting prices for the truck begin at $32,535 for the 8-ft bed F-250 XL then jump to $77,325 for a top tier F-450 Platinum. If you spring for an out-and-out fully-loaded truck then you can expect a hefty near six-figure price tag.
