Another One

Years after leaving the confines of Gas Monkey Garage to do his own thing, KC Mathieu is churning out some of the cooler hot rods in the country via his business, KC's Paint Shop. For this year's SEMA Show, that list grew with the addition of a 1948 Ford F1 he calls "Bad Intentions," which YouTuber J.C. Fernandez recently got to check out up close.

Total Makeover

Like most builds of this ilk, the F1 project began with a rather rusty old pickup that was previously just turned into a patina-heavy cruiser. To take it to the next level, Mathieu and his team tore this one down to the bare chassis, then proceeded to give it newly sectioned Roadster Shop Revo underpinnings.

Cool Color

Gone is the patina'd paint, replaced with something a bit more appropriate for a shop that has forged its reputation on that kind of thing. Mathieu decided to refinish this F1 in a 1956 Porsche 356 color, the same hue that adorns his personal pickup that he drives on a daily basis.

Keeping It Subtle

In an effort to keep the truck's subtle nature intact and let the quality of the build speak for itself, Mathieu did add a matte clear coat to that particular finish, however. It's perfectly complemented by a custom interior put together by the folks at PG Auto Upholstery.

Custom Yet Tasteful

The interior is the only part of this truck that KC's team didn't handle in-house, in fact, which is impressive for a paint shop. It definitely stands out, however, with a look that's certainly far from stock, but to an unknowing bystander, it might seem like it emerged from the assembly line looking that way.

Goldfinger

That attention to detail extends under the hood, where a pretty wicked Whipple supercharged powerplant lies. This engine bay looks just as good as the inside and outside of the F1, thanks in part to some engine-turned 24-karat gold that matches candy gold powder-coated suspension parts underneath.

Hard to Top?

All in all, this vintage Ford pickup is a pretty amazing build, but that's something we've come to expect from KC's Paint Shop. After all, it and its namesake have been cranking out cool Blue Oval trucks for years, though it'll be hard to top this latest one.
