Custom 1962 Ford F-100 Is a Super Smooth Cruiser
This custom 1962 Ford F-100 is a tasteful build that utilizes a vast array of Crown Victoria parts.
Excellent Deal
These days, it's pretty easy to find all sorts of cool old custom pickup builds out there for sale, many of them featuring some seriously fine craftsmanship. Oftentimes, one can score nice trucks like these for reasonable money, at least compared to building it yourself. That was certainly set to be the case with this tastefully modified 1962 Ford F-100 that recently went up for auction at Autohunter, too.

Total Redo
The previous owner of this classic Blue Oval pickup completely tore it down to the bare chassis and rebuilt it from the ground up, utilizing tons of components from a donor Crown Victoria. On the outside, it features black-painted bumpers and a black grille, a shaved cowl, a smoothed-out tailgate and bed seams, and Habanero Orange Metallic paint.

Interior Upgrades
The same goes for the modernized cabin, which now touts power black vinyl seating, power everything, cruise control, a custom center console, aftermarket gauges, a tilt steering column, and a matching black steering wheel amid red-painted metal surfaces.

Crown Vic Power
Power for this restomod pickup comes from the Crown Vic's 37k-mile 4.6-liter modular V8, which is mated to a 4R70W four-speed automatic transmission. The engine has been left alone in this case - which isn't necessarily a bad thing - and sends power to the rear wheels via an 8.8-inch rear end with 4.10 gears.

Suspension Modifications
Underneath, the previous owner treated this 1962 Ford F-100 to a bevy of upgrades including a Crown Victoria independent front suspension, a boxed and black powder-coated chassis, Ridetech coilovers, Fat Man Fabrications control arms, and power four-wheel disc brakes.

Pony Car Parts
The whole thing rolls on a set of black 18-inch 2014 Mustang GT wheels, which are wrapped in brand-new Pirelli P Zero Nero radial tires measuring 235/50/18 at all four corners.

Not Quite
Overall, this 1962 Ford F-100 is a great-looking classic cruiser with modern mechanicals, and that makes it pretty cool in our book. Regardless, it wound up garnering just $31,500 at auction, which wasn't quite enough to meet its reserve price.
