Take Me Back

Smoothed-out, lowered, two-wheel-drive classic Ford pickups once were a hot entity. But in recent years, lifted four-wheel-drive trucks have stolen the spotlight. So it was somewhat refreshing to see Ford Truck Enthusiasts member lizardman1 (Chris Martin) keeping an old tradition alive with his killer 1970 Ford pickup.

Less Is More

The nicely sorted truck has been relieved of everything it doesn't need, including the badges and rear bumper. You won't find any unnecessary trim anywhere, either.

Little Shiny

Most of what's left, including the front bumper, has been painted to give this pickup a nice, uniform appearance. But a few shiny bits remain, including the grille, (smaller) mirrors, and door handles.

Practicing Restraint

Instead of going with some outrageous or outdated billet aluminum wheels, the builder of this smooth Ford opted for a set of later-model stock wheels. And quite honestly, we think they look right at home here.

'90s Build

If you need further proof that this truck came from another era, simply look under the hood. There you'll find a fuel-injected 302 V8 lifted straight from a 1992 F-150.

Modern Components

The modern mill is backed up by a matching E40D transmission and 8.8-inch rear end fitted with 3.73 gears. Other than headers, the drivetrain looks to be mostly stock.

Stock but Modified

According to Chris, the front bumper on this '70 is also original, but it's been shortened four inches to remove the center plate section and smooth it all out.

Everything You Need

Chris "The Lizard Man" does plan on making a few changes to his new addition, including finishing up the bodywork and adding some more chrome to it. So be sure and head over here to stay tuned for future updates!
