Two Popular Haulers

It's safe to say that the heavy-duty truck market is perhaps the most heated on earth, with a trio of manufacturers - Ford, Stellantis, and GM - constantly jockeying for position. The Ford Super Duty has long stood atop that proverbial heap, and just received a redesign for the 2023 model year. At the same time, the Chevy Silverado HD lineup received a refresh for 2024, meaning that now is a good time to see how the two most popular models in those respective lineups - the Ford F-250 and Silverado 2500HD - stack up.

Engine Options

There are plenty of engine options to choose from as well, no matter which model you're looking at. The F-250 offers up a new base gas engine option in the 6.8-liter V8, along with the 7.3-liter Godzilla V8, and two versions of the 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel - a regular model, and a high-output version. As for the Silverado 2500HD, customers have two choices - the gas 6.6-liter V8, or the 6.6-liter Duramax turbo diesel.

The Silverado 2500HD offers up 3,395-3,975 pounds of payload, coupled with a max towing capacity of between 14,500-22,500 pounds.

Notable Features

As one might imagine, both of these trucks are chock full of innovative features that help them stand out, too. The Super Duty's Pro Power Onboard generator provides portable power anywhere you need it, along with onboard scales that make it simple to ensure you're not overloaded, and even the very useful Tailgate Down review camera.

As for the Silverado 2500HD, it features the Multi-Flex tailgate that gives one more choices in terms of providing access to the bed, while the new ZR2 trim gives customers an alternative to the off-road-friendly Super Duty Tremor as well.
