New Year, New Stuff

The 14th generation Ford F-150 is entering its third model year after debuting in 2021, which means that the venerable, best-selling pickup is due for a few changes. Turns out, the 2023 F-150 has received a few more than one might expect for a simple model year changeover, including the introduction of a host of new and exciting variants.

F-150 Raptor R

The first, and by far the most exciting addition to the 2023 Ford F-150 lineup is the new Raptor R, which marks the return of the V8 engine to the hardcore off-roader for the first time since the first-gen model. Sporting a slightly tweaked version of the Mustang Shelby GT500's supercharged 5.2-liter V8, it cranks out 700 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque.

Otherwise, it's pretty difficult to tell the difference between the regular F-150 Raptor and the Raptor R, though the latter does feature a Code Orange "R" in the front grille and the bedside graphics, along with standard 37" tires and a handful of suspension tweaks that help support all of that extra power.

Heritage Edition

Next up, we have the Heritage Edition, which pays homage to F-Series trucks from the past following 75 years of continuous production with a variety of two-tone paint combinations. Available on XLT series pickups, the Heritage can be had in five different color combos in total.

Aside from the exterior paint treatment, the 2023 F-150 Heritage Edition features unique slate gray and black seats, special embossing for the center console and windshield, a "75 Years" logo, and a special animation that appears on the infotainment screen when the truck is started up.

Rattler

Finally, we have the Rattler, which is the new, entry-level F-150 off-road variant designed to offer plenty of capability at a low price. Based on the XL trim, the Rattler features an electronic locking rear differential, hill descent control, dual exhaust, specially-tuned off-road shocks, and all-terrain tires wrapped around black 18-inch wheels.

In addition to those mechanical upgrades, the Rattler also features unique badging, rattlesnake-inspired graphics, and a choice of eight different colors - Oxford White, Avalanche, Iconic Silver, Carbonized Gray, Antimatter Blue, Stone Gray, Agate Black, and Rapid Red TriCoat. Inside, the rugged pickups feature Onyx seats finished with burnished bronze accents and stitching to invoke a desert type of look.
