Scofield Performance Shines Again

Scofield Performance of Thonotosassa, Florida is well known across the restomod world for its beastly creations and recreations of Ford cars and trucks, and their latest monster is no exception from their reputation for excellence. This Scofield Performance F-450 is the latest in a fleet of F-Series rides created by the outfit, built for the purposes of a daily driver for Jeff Scofield, the company’s principal. And like all proper Florida trucks, it also may or may not be used to tow the occasional race car.

Black Ice

The truck is also the brainchild of Jeff Scofield’s 17-year-old son —an heirloom of sorts for him to carry on the company’s foundation of success. Originally purchased from a Plant City Ford Dealership, the truck’s customization began in earnest. The truck retains its original drivetrain components, including the exhaust, transmission, rear, and induction. Bullseye Retro lighting was added to the truck’s exterior, as was additional Shadow Black paint on the truck’s plastic surfaces.

In the Air Tonight

While much of the truck’s original parts remain, one thing that would be unrecognizable to any reputable Ford mechanic would be the truck’s new stance and suspension components. The father-and-son Scofield, knowing that the truck needed to be tough and tall enough to rock a gooseneck trailer, opted for a Kelderman 5-6-inch Air Suspension Package, along with an AccuAir e-Level Air Management Package.

Air Force Ford

The Kelderman system is an airborne genius. The kit features upper and lower airbag mounting brackets with industrial strength air bags, air lines, and fittings all around, along with radius arm drop brackets, including a pitman arm, a dual steering stabilizer bracket, and a track bar drop bracket in front. The rear of the Scofield Ford F-450 has been modified with Kelderman’s 5-6-inch 4-Link Rear Air Suspension design, which includes axle clamps and adjustable trailing arms.

Brawn & Brains

The father-son duo can program and adjust the height of the truck to their specifications thanks to an AccurAir e-Level Air Management Package that’s programmed to work with the truck’s Kelderman hardware. The customized lift setup also includes a controller, 4-Corner Valve Manifold, and duel endo 5-gallon aluminum air tanks.

True Spike Lugs

As far as the truck’s reborn stance —it’s all badass. Black forged aluminum American Force Baus wheels (22x8.25) have been matched up with 37-inch Toyo Open Country M/T rubber wheels. The truck’s vicious look is amplified by True Spike lug nuts, CNC-machined from forged steel and billet aluminum. The murdered-out appearance is Jeff Scofield’s thing about the truck for now.

Like a Boss

True to his witty self, Scofield was honest when asked about the weight and fuel-economy of his black beauty: “heavy, and not good.” But the truck's sublime ride quality, killer looks, and penchant for power have made it a star not only in and around Plant City, but also across the truck mod world.
