1971 Ranchero Reimagined as SuperCrew Dually In Bizarre Renderings

We doubt anyone would ever build something like this, but then again, stranger things have happened.

More Truck?

Today, the Ford Ranchero is somewhat of a small footnote in history, a car/truck that was popular during its time on earth, though today, car-based trucks are more of a thing than ever, at least in terms of the platforms they ride on. One thing Ford never made, however, was a four-door Ranchero, and that's precisely what artist Oscar Vargas set out to do, at least virtually, with these renderings.

Getting Longer

Vargas started out by using a regular old 1971 Ford Ranchero GT as his inspiration for these strange renderings. He then sought to transform it into more of a proper truck by stretching the body and adding two more doors out back, as well as widening the rear fenders to make room for dual tires on each side.

Ridiculously Long

The result of those efforts is, of course, a pretty strange sight. This generation of the Ranchero was already pretty large, and making it longer doesn't help in the visual department. The fact that the GT has sporty elements like a hood scoop and bright stripes down the sides only adds to the ridiculous factor, which is quite high here.

Practical Modification

These renderings are all the explanation we need for why Ford chose not to make a four-door Ranchero, and likely why no enthusiast has gone to the trouble of building one themself. Regardless, it does add quite a bit of utility with room for two or three additional passengers, and the GT's optional 429 V8 is more than powerful enough to make up for the added weight.

Conversation Piece

As for the dual rear wheels, well, there's really no explanation for that, nor a purpose. But none of those things are needed with renderings like these. After all, artists do things like this just to play around with silly ideas and get people talking, and that's precisely what Vargas did with these four-door dually Ranchero renders.
