American/Canadian Classic

Every American worth their salt is well aware of the existence of the very first Ford F-Series pickup - the F1. A true legend in the automotive world, the F1 ushered in a whole new era for trucks and is a treasured collectible today. However, while this 1948 Ford that was recently sold at Garage Kept Motors may look like an F1, it's actually the Canadian F47 version.

Flawless Beauty

This bone stock Vermillion Red beauty is, in all fairness, essentially a mirror image of the F1, save for its badges. It has also received an extensive restoration that has it in immaculate, better than new condition, with a shiny exterior sporting perfect bodywork and polished chrome.

Good and Simple

The same goes for the inside of the cabin, which is fitted with contrasting cream to go along with the sea of red. There's nothing fancy about the interiors of these early F-Series pickups - just a beautiful simplicity that resonates even today, decades after it was originally built.

All You Need

Throw in a basic, flat, brown leather bench seat and that's all you need to go cruising and enjoy yourself. Features aren't really a thing with this F47, though it does have an ashtray and a glove box, and that's about it. But who really needs things like adaptive cruise control and Bluetooth stereos to get from point A to point B?

Meager Yet Plentiful

This truck's powerplant is likewise rather simple yet reliable - Ford's 226 cubic-inch Flathead V8, which offers up a meager 95 horsepower. Once again, that's perfectly adequate for most tasks, except maybe reaching highway speeds by the end of the onramp. Shifts are handled the old-fashioned way via a floor-mounted three-speed manual gearbox, too.

Charming and Rare

Overall, this F47 has all of the charm that makes people gravitate toward the F1, yet it's also a rarer version of that legendary pickup. This classic Canadian pickup is sure to attract attention everywhere it goes, not to mention a ton of questions from folks that don't quite understand why it has F47 badges on its fenders.
