10. Ford F-100
The Ford F-3 debuted in 1948 on a school-bus style chassis. It was based on the 1941 Ford truck design that was one of the first to make pickups mainstream on American roads. Based on the popularity of their early pickup truck designs, Ford debuted the Ford F-100 in 1953. This truck achieved legendary status thanks to an improved engine and updated and improved chassis design. But it wouldn't be until the 1956 F-Series lineup where Ford debuted perhaps the most legendary feature to its pickup truck line —seat belts.

9. Ford Half Ton Pickup 1941
Legendary Ford designer Bob Gregorie gave life to Ford's first half-ton pickup way back in 1940, building off the attractive styling and engineering developments that had help make Ford passenger cars so popular. Improvements in chassis design and mechanics offered tremendous strides in drivability, while the addition of more seat springs aimed to provide a more comfortable ride for passenger and driver alike.

8. Ford F-250
Ford's "Super Duty" pickup trucks premiered in 1958, among them the Ford F-250. The truck helped the automaker continue it's the path to the modern pickup truck thanks to newly implemented automatic transmission options and overhead-valve V-8 engines, which produced nearly twenty-percent more horsepower than the predecessor.

7. Ford F-150 SVT Lightning
The Ford F-150 SVT Lightning debuted in 1993 as Ford's first high-performance pickup build. Designed and engineered by the Ford Special Vehicle Team (SVT) for the streets instead of the farm or job-site, the Ford SVT was offered with 240-horsepower 5.8-liter V8. Three years after its debut, a supercharged 5.4-liter Triton V8, 360-horsepower version of the Ford SVT Lightning was released, raising the bar for the high-performance trucks for years to come.
