The caliper assembly should be double checked for freedom of movement before being installed on the vehicle. The "Wishbone" V-Springs were a Akebono addition around late 2001 if memory serves. In the US patent it describes these as a noise abatement improvement, but the Akebono Australian site describes them as what they were, a device to reduce pad contact to the rotors and minimize rotor DTV. The 2005+ TRW caliper design uses slippers to do this instead.
