Before reinstalling the renewed pad and bracket assembly it should be double checked for freedom of movement. the Wishbone" V-springs were added late 2001 by Akebono and described in the USA patent as a noise improvement. However in Akebono's Australian site they describe them as their true intent, to keep the pads away from the rotors to reduce DTV. The 2005+ vehicles with TRW calipers have the slippers doing the pushback.
