I bought the shortbox 4x4 f150 about 5 yr's ago.. it was a rebuilt 400 with np245 and np205. d44 front and 9" rear with 3.50 gears. happened to come with edelbrock performer intake and afb comp series 625cfm carb. i think the suspension has some work to it too.
Engine/Drivetrain Modifications:
Ive added MSD dizzy, 6al box, and coil. performer plus *2172 edelbrock cam/lifters. double roller timing chain. hardened seats onto stock heads with mild port/polish cleaning. 32"x1 5/8" flowtech long tube headers wrapped, into 2 1/4" flowmaster pipes(o2 bungs)/mufflers, tipped out side behind rear wheels. she's only got about 50miles on her since the cam/heads/exhaust upgrade. this DUI im dealing with has free'd up some funding from the gas prices im not dealing with :)
Im not sure what the previous owner did when he had the motor rebuilt. he told me it was a 351m built to a 400.. when i put in the cam i noticed the pistons didnt look like stock pistons. no stamp was on the top of them but, they looked like flat top pistons with intake/exhaust valve reliefs. cylinder walls looked great though.. still had swirls from cylinder hone. the cyl head guy that checked out my heads and put in hardened valve seats said the motor had roughly 30k miles on it from his valve check. havnt pulled the oil pan yet to see if crank is stamp'd. will do when im due for next oil change, plan on upgrading to high volume oil pump and thinking about going synthetic.
Suspension Modifications:
unknown really. its got the factory lift. rear looks stock, front looks like an aftermarket coil. rancho rs 5000 shocks all around. i do know the truck has unusually stiff suspension.. 800lb dump runs dont even lower the body..
Wheels/Tires Modifications:
had 35" mudders on aftermarket rims.. but lost tread so downgraded now to 33" mudders on steel rims.
Interior/Exterior Modifications:
no exterior mods except for windshield visor, Roll-Bar w/KC's and roll on bed liner. interior has custom headliner. delete'd carpet with roll on bedliner floorboards. custom instrument panel with equus oil,temp,volts,fuel,speedo,tach,A/F and boost gauge. Grant Gt wheel.
Future Modifications:
recently picked up a strip kit for afb jets rods and springs.. still need to experiment with them. i want to throw this beast on a chassis dyno. so maybe ill have the dyno experiment with the kit. i want to upgrade to dana 60 rear and do 8lug swap on d44. fluid leaks (gaskets) on tranny/tcase. and need to balance driveshaft.. ive broke 3 9" rearends grr.. eventually want to lock the differentials. add custom brushguard. was thinking some cowl inserts on the hood to.. give her some little nostrils to look a little meaner. then top off with custom paint job. helps im a painter :) Read more ยป
