After seeing the Dodge Hemi ads on the TV, I finally hooked up with one in a 2500 2003 Dodge at the Texas Metroplex Raceway last week. I have a 2002 F-250 Superduty. He jumped me about 1 truck length of the line but about half way up the track and then beat him by 2 truck lengths at the finish line. My time for the run was 16.7 at 81.5 mph. The next night at Hallsville Drag Strip I ran my best time in practise, 16.3 at 83.2 mph. I vowed nobody would ever say"All Show No Go". If you would like to see my Truck and all the mods, e-mail me with your regular e-mail address.
I am an avid car and truck enthusiast and have nothing against any certain type of manufacturer, but I would say that it is a little unfair to compare a V10 powered truck against a V8 powered truck, wouldn't you?. It is the same thing in comparing a Corvette to a Viper. It's like comparing apples to oranges. If you want to compare a Dodge and a Ford make it fair, compare a V8 Ford against a V8 Dodge and I think you will find that the Dodge will outmuscle the Ford 98% of the time. So if you want to compare a V10 Ford against something from Dodge, wait a few months till the SRT10 Ram comes out with the V10 Viper motor. Then I do believe things will come out a little different when you are up against a truck that runs 0-60 in about 5 seconds and is able to reach 150mph.
Not when they are sold agains each other! Dodge is saying the Hemi will take on a V10! The owner of the camper place I bought from had a Hemi. He tried pulling my trailer and said he def needed more motor. I have no problems!

The # of cylinders doesn't mean anything. There are plenty of V8s that can out-muscle V10s. I can even find some I6s that outmuscle certain Dodge V8s as well.
The reason the Ford V10 makes more towing power than the Hemi is due to the difference in displacement. The Hemi is a 5.7L and the V10 is a 6.8L. That's why the the V10 makes 400lb-ft at 1900rpm while the Dodge 5.7L only makes a wimpy 300lb-ft at 2000rpm. The Hemi makes more high rpm peak HP which is nice for street racing but not towing.
Remember-not even that flashy "I got me a Hemi" badge on the Ram's fender can make up for the deficiency in displacement
Since this section is for a V10 work engine that's only available in 3/4 ton and up pickups I doubt many here really care about street racing.

You need to look around the web and find how many "work engines" are ending up in late model Mustangs!! Some guys have even stuffed a supercharger UNDER the intake manifold.
The V10 is NOT just a work engine. Just like you posted, the TQ numbers will move a lighter car faster and with other mods the racing is ON.
ok, dodges v8 hemi against the ford 5.4 supercharged lightning, or even better yet your srt v10 against the same said truck. Remember this is a FORD site pal!

skipperw how often you go out to Hallsville....been out there a few times myself but not anytime in the last year or so. Ya'll don't start a flame war in here about what's what is better.
I just came back from Fun Ford Week at Ennis. My best times were 16.43 at 82mph in the quarter. Had a great time. The last time I was at Hallsville was about a month ago. Will post new photos of my truck in my gallery. The new photos of the truck should be posted by Tuesday or Wednesday. Made a lot of changes to the truck.
