Hi guy's, my 04 F-250 5.4L was running fine one morning, then when I went to leave work for the day it wouldn't start. I replaced the fuel pump, swapped out the fuse box with a different one amd checked the inertia switch. It seems like there is no power going to the inertia switch, so what are the chances 2 separate fuse boxes have bad fuel pump relay? I tried bypassing the inertia switch with a small piece of wire and still not starting. What else is there to do? Should I try finding a 3rd fuse box or is there something else I'm overlooking? I'd really appreciate your guys' help, thanks
It's time to start diagnosing it instead of swapping potentially expensive parts. Can you scan it for codes? Parts store scan tools won't do this; you need a more advanced scan tool. Do you have a decent multimeter?
It was throwing P0171 and P0174 too lean bank 1 & 2. That was supposed to be fixed a week ago whennot was at the shop bc it was stalling out and i had loss of power issues. They replaced my #1 ignition coil, MAF sensor, and transmission output speed sensor. Everything worked fine for about a week then those 2 codes came back but truck ran fine. Then a few days ago it wouldn't start when I was leaving work. And yes I have a decent multimeter, I'm not very good with one but what should I be testing for? Amd thanks for responding
Start by checking for 12 volts at the inertia fuel shutoff. Power should be present on both pins with the connector connected to the switch. If you can't probe both sides with the connector in place, disconnect it and check to see if there's power on one side, then check the resistance through the switch itself. Post what you find, or if you need clarification, just ask.
