Current cost to do timing chains and phasers

2018 3.5 with 95k has started to develop cold start rattle. What's the current cost to replace these things, I'll probably have the dealership do it so we can get a loaner.

This truck had the cold start rattle around 55k and the dealership did a PCM reflash which is what Ford recommended as the first step. That stopped the noise but I should've known it would come back.

I don't know if I should fix it or just trade it off. Was only planning on keeping it another two years max and I'm sure the cost of this repair would be over a years worth of payments on a new truck. Problem is that in the last 5k I've put new tires on it, changed the plugs, and had the right side valve cover replaced due to it leaking. Then there is the CDF drum issue that is in the back of my mind.

Roughly $5k. My estimate was $4800, 2 months ago. A video that breaks it down, along with some other things to consider

That's what I was expecting. Not really what I was wanting to put into a truck we were only going to keep for another 24,000 miles tops. The repair would be over two years payments and if the CDF drum fails in the next two years we're screwed.

Eta. Found a dealer selling a 2025 XLT with the 2.7 and 18,000 miles for a good price. Not sure what I want to do. Really hate to get another eco boost but 1-2yo low mileage super duties with gas motors are rare and cost as much as a new half ton.

Some say the new EBs(especially the 2.7) are worlds better but I still wouldn't trust it to go past 100k without four figure repairs. And there is the whole trading a truck with known issues thing.

I never hear complaints on the 2.7L. I would not keep the 3.5L.

2.7s, 2016/17 are bad about leaking. They also have a tendency to drop valve seats. Both of the those issues happened with a 2.7 truck in our family.
