Stuck Dipstick tube

I’m installing ramhorn manifolds and need to get the dipstick tube out. It is stuck stuck stuck. Dont want to damage it.
Any suggestions? (pull harder)
I could drop the oil pan but not sure if that is even worth the trouble. Also swabbing acetone to loosen any rtv that may have been used.

Thanks

A bit of heat may help. Dipstick tubes are notorious for being difficult to remove even when the engine is on a stand.

Finally got it but not without a slight crack. I’ll patch it up with rtv and replace it later. Second time should be easier.

Thanks for the replies.

My 2 cents : if you are able, use JB Weld or similar and not silicone. Then, keep looking for a used undamaged one.

Better yet, John Mummert will sell you a new stainless one that will clear when using ramhorn manifolds.

I bought the Mummert one when I bought my ramhorns from him. It is about 4 inches shorter than what the factory truck tube is.

Was that a problem? Have to change dipsticks? Would the stock tube/stick have worked out fine? On my 59, I recall just making a tweak to the tube and all was perfect.

Dip stick tube

Since most of them are made from 3/8” tubing I have had to make some by first having a known amount of oil in the pan. Then starting with a longer piece using a mini tubing cutter and checking with the dip stick cutting a little at a time until the stick reads in the range.
